I have been doing word study for 20 years. I have tons of ideas for effective stage and pattern practice at home and in the classroom. I will try to get things posted. If you have ideas for setting up a word study station in the class, please post them.
SETTING UP SPELLING STATION ACTIVITIES
STENCILS
PAINTING (Writing words) WITH Q-TIPS
Connect 4 Spelling (for 3 and 4 letter words)
MAGNETIC LETTERS
Scrabble Tiles
Add the word
BAD= 3+1+2=6
Wacky Words - rainbow pencils that write more than one color and glitter crayons or metalic crayons
Stamping letters with stamp pads - the Dollar Tree has small sets sometimes, but I get most of them from Ebay.
Great place to get printable sorts (some with pictures) all organized by feature!

One of my favorite word study station items is my scrabble tile bags. I've taken the tiles from old games and put them in baggies. Students pull a bag and a sheet I made for this activity and they spell out their words with the tiles and add up how much the word is worth. I have my sheet listed on TPT as a FREEBIE if you want it. Just click the link under word study on the right!
